An Ode To The Writers,
Every week, I share poetic reflections on being a writer. Each ode you read comes from the heart and gives you an insight into how I’ve felt about an experience in my writing journey. A journal entry, shared publicly. I hope that by openly reflecting on my experiences, you feel encouraged to embrace your path and follow what your heart wants to share.
Doubts creep in for good reason.
Everything that exists has a purpose and doubts are no different. Those unwanted guests are not so unwanted when you see that they are here to serve you.
See them as a signpost directing you to go inward, to understand who you truly are. Let them be a reminder that ego (fear) has raised its curtains to veil the fearless being that you are. Once you lift the curtain let the work you feared doing arise from that place of love and knowing.
That is true self-expression and doubts can guide you to that place if you persist rather than resist.

This reminds me of an experimental essay I once wrote, called "Grief, the Unwanted Guest." I personified grief and portrayed it as something that wants to guide us throughout life, not pester or harm us. I think your poem fits in to that concept, Niall.
Fear and doubt are a compass. They only appear when you are pointed in a direction worth exploring.
